FD Hospitality's Saffron Wellbeing Portal

It was great to see the buzz at the 2019 Saffron User Conference held in Sheffield recently. We were invited along to see the presentation on the Saffron Wellbeing Portal which SkillsLogic have helped in the development of since its inception in 2014.

The Wellbeing Portal communicates allergen and nutritional information as part of the Saffron Catering Management Solution. It provides a consistent, accurate and verifiable process of delivering allergen information to customers, in line with the UK Food Information Regulations 2014.

There were key speakers during the day including from the Royal Navy; Ian Bowles from WRAP UK; and Will Nicholson from The Food Climate Research Network talking about initiatives to encourage everyone in Britain to eat an extra portion of veg a day. In the afternoon Lee Gibbs demonstrated the enhancements to the Wellbeing Portal including a nutritional shopping basket, carbon footprint data and features for filtering menus by dietary or nutritional requirements.

The Wellbeing Portal was developed by SkillsLogic alongside the FD Hospitality internal dev team using Microsoft ASP.NET & SQL Server, and uses web services to integrate with Saffron. It utilises a responsive design which looks great on a mobile phone.
